MIKE CASSELL: Head Boxing Coach “Certified USA Amateur Boxing Coach”
Mike Cassell has been involved in the Philadelphia boxing scene since his first amateur fight in 1981. For the past 15 years, Mike has given his full attention to training some of the most elite boxers in Philadelphia. Given his many years of boxing, he brings a wealth of knowledge to all who train under him. Outside of training, Mike has worked as a writer for the Boxing Writers Association of America and has also worked as a local broadcaster and national broadcaster for televised boxing events. He hosted his own show on ESPN radio, as well as the Fighting City Radio Show for the Armed Forces network. Mike is a registered boxing historian and has been shown on the History Channel and Discovery Channel several times, and featured in many other documentaries. Mike has produced multiple State Champs, Golden Gloves Champions, National Champs, and Intercontinental Champs over the years and hopes to rise up even more champions at Philly’s Next Champ!
MIKE WINKLER: Head of Adult MMA
Mike Winkler is currently a black belt in mixed martial arts under master Cavacanti and the Carlson Gracie team, and a 2nd degree purple belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Practicing martial arts for the past 19 years, Mike has vast experience in all areas of fighting. He has competed in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Russian Sambo, Muay Thai kick boxing, Boxing, and MMA tournaments. After being MMACA certified through the National Exercise and Sports Trainers Administration, he now brings his experience to Philly’s Next Champ Gym to help develop members of all age groups. He will being members of the gym of all age groups to a higher level athletically, mentally, physically, competitively, and technically.
ALEX RODRIGUEZ: Head Muay Thai Coach
This Philly native Alex Rodriguez has had a lifetime of experience in Muay Thai Kickboxing. He has had great success competing in tournaments and events all over the United States and even in Thailand. Alex has competed in over 6+ different weight classes. On top of his explosive Muay Thai career he has also found victories competing in Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts fights. Alex is a 3 stripe Blue Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He brings a true intensity to all of his classes and focuses on proper technique with an emphasis on conditioning. TYRONE MEBANE (Coach TY): Boxing & Youth Boxing Instructor
Coach TY specializes in Total Body Fitness, Boxing, Nutrition & Powerlifting. He is a 12-year Combat Army Veteran with 10 years of Fitness Expertise. He is all about motivating his clients and assisting them in achieving their goals while creating a better version of themselves. JORGE RAMERO: Head Youth Boxing Coach / USA, Amateur Boxing Certified
Jorge Romero has been involved in Youth Boxing for over 2 years. His main focus is teaching basic boxing fundamentals. His classes will include cardio calisthenics, shadow boxing, bag work, partner drills, pad work and core strengthening exercises. His focus is to provide the youth with self-defense skills as well as the self-confidence and motivation needed to thrive in everyday life.
